Liveblogging the RNC

I'm trying to have an open mind. I really am. I mean my parents watched Obama's speech last week. So I should be a good sport, huh?

But I just can't help but cringe when the crowd is chanting, "Drill, baby, drill." I mean, seriously? It's like watching the frat president give a speech at a kegger.

"Giving up Iraq is giving up on America." They're cheering for the war in Iraq. Seriously.

9:05 — "John McCain has always put country FIRTHT!"

The headline on reddit says, "Rudy Giuliani's Like A Shitty Jay Leno. And That's Saying Something."

Giuliani says changing your mind, as a politician, is a bad thing. Hmmm...yeah it's definitely better to stick to your bad decisions and be unwilling to revisit policy decisions that have proven disastrous. Bush Strategery 101.

Oh wait, here comes Sarah Palin. Biographical film intro "has been scrubbed."

I still haven't seen any faces that aren't white.
Oh wait, I saw a black man staring off into the distance.
Maybe he was security.

I watched most of Guilliani's rambling speech without losing my cookies, but the quick glimpses of the delegates was a bit too much.

Someday, before I die, I'd like to witness a campaign in which the candidates abstained from mud-slinging and focused on their goals, visions and ideas.
